Have you put N4PY's V.92 chip in the Omni V? It also requires that a cable
described by Carl be made to get rig control to work. It didn't mention
anything about USB. While not difficult now with the v.92 chip, it's not
plug'n play either.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Logic 8 and Omni VII? - & now Omni V...
Sure enough, I have the same problem but with an Omni V
Though I've had good luck with Logic as a logging software I 've now
tried getting the Omni V to interface with it and have not been able
to do so. I called Logic's tech help but didn't get things resolved.
I know the USB cable is recgonized by XP, the "Prolific" drivers are
installed & working and the Omni V is ID'd in Logic as a known radio
but Logic still doesn't seem to know the Omni V is on the other end.
The error message given on startup says
"A timeout error occured when attempting to communicqate with a rig.
Make sure the rig is turned on and check cabling and setup parameters
POLLING DISABLED. 0 characters in buffer".
All I want to do is have the frequency/band info get imported
automatically into logic.
Anyone using Logic 8 with an Omni V especially if you're using a
RS232 to USB adapter?
Thanks!

I use Logic 8 but haven't hooked it up yet to this newly acquired Omni
V (need to either get a dedicated computer for ham that has a RS232
port or get a RS232 to USB adapter for my laptop.
I called Dennis and he said the V will interface well with Logic 8
with either the native controller chip or the N4PY V.92 mod chip I'm
installing today. Hearing that from him, I'd expect the VII would
interface as well.

BTW, I've used Logic since it was a DOS version back in 91, great
program. Does so much more than I've ever had a need to do. He's made
it pretty flexible. _______________________________________________
