As I recall the PBT is for the 6.3 MHz IF and not the 9 MHz IF. Be sure the gain jumper is in the HI position. It's easy to miss the pin alignment. I only used a 500 Hz filter in the N-2 position with a 1.8 KHz filter in the N-1 position in my Omni VI Plus. Loved that combination and had 1.8 KHz, 500 Hz and 250 Hz filters in the 6.3 MHz IF slots.

Might try swapping positions just to be sure that some "mods" haven't been done to accommodate the INRAD filters loss.

Paul:

As Clarke advised, pay very close attention to the adjustment of the PBT.
A tiny bit off in this adjustment can make a big dif in the apparent
attenuation
of the 250hz filter.

I put in a 219 250 hz filter in the 9 mhz if slot. It replaced a 400 hz
Inrad filter. I find that it has quite a bit of attenuation (maybe 10db?).
But it does reduce the QRN a lot. This is on 80 & 160m.

Do others find this or maybe I have a bad filter. And yes I have the jumper
in the high gain position. And boy does it narrow up the passband.

I have not had time to see if this makes the difference in copying DX in the
noise or not.

I think that I tried a 221 filter and did not like it for some reason, I
dont remember. Different center frequency?

Any comments or suggestions?
