Microsoft is still supporting the predecessor to Win XP, Windows 2000
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/default.mspx so I would expect them to
continue supporting Win XP for quite a few years.

I just ordered a new laptop today and faced the daunting question of "XP or
VISTA", so I checked with my broadcast colleagues on the Radio-Tech
reflector and not a single person recommended VISTA. One guy called it a
"trainwreck" and another said it was the worst OS release since Windows
"Mistake Edition" (ME)! Since the laptop comes with VISTA and since someday
Microsoft will stop supporting XP, I checked into "downgrading", at least
for now, until VISTA gets fixed
