1. Is it possible to modify a Paragon for 60 meters?
No mod needed. Just remove the "ham" plug on the logic board for all
freq coverage.
3. Using a soundcard driven digital modality, is it best to add a pad to
the input of the Paragon?
Only if your input level is higher than line level. Also, a good
idea to avoid
ground loops (hum) is to use a small 1/1 or 600 ohm/600 ohm audio xfmr between
the sound card and the rig.
Is it better to use the mic jack as the input for
the digital modes or the Audio in and Audio out of the rear of the Paragon?
The rear connectors are less messy than trying to rig a mike/sound card switch
or having to change mike plugs when going to voice modes.
Much more straightforward, too.
