Connecting headphones to the speaker output, I hear the clicks (on
keyup) in the sidetone just as I do in the headphone output. This was
done transmitting into a dummy load with power set to minimum. I would
think that if the problem was related to t/r switching then maybe it
would be common to the two paths anyway. A combination of relatively
low audio gain and low sidetone setting (5) eliminates the clicks when
keying, at the price of much lower sidetone level than I like to use.
But using the speaker output was no solution on this rig at least.

See my last mail. I connected my headphones to Orion's external speaker
socket this morning and the sidetone was perfect. No clicks. It is almost
certain the problem has arisen due to a change in gain distribution in the
headphone path.
