Gents,
It is just a feeling that I have, but you seem to be talking about an
object which was bought and paid for by another. We aren't speaking of
an ancient objet d'art. A radio transceiver produced beginning twenty
years back is being discussed.
If I purchase such a radio and want to dismantle it and sell it a
capactitor at a time or if I want to run over it with the family car, it
is really no one's business but my own. If we only spent as much time
worrying about our own behavior, we'd have fewer problems.

Mark,
If it is any comfort many of us feel as you do. In fact, we've even
coined a phrase for when the owner of a Ten Tec rig takes out all the
filters and sells them separately. If they have, the rig has been
"weaseled" because the owner was a weasel for doing it. Of course not
all agree and I could even be friends with such a weasel, we just
have different opinions - it's a big world. Note that taking the
filters out of a non-working rig, or having them as extra because
they were replaced by InRads. etc. is NOT weaseling.
