Yeah...my omni vi does that little shift also...until I pulled the internal speaker (I never use those anyway...much prefer an external speaker) and installed a computer power supply's fan that runs in series with a second fan on the heatsink. No more drift and the omni's internal components stay nice and cool. I placed an air filter on top of the speaker grill to keep dust out of the works. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale Martin" <kg5u@hal-pc.org>

I was thinking of doing exactly what Jerry/K0CQ suggested years ago.

That 'sudden pbt shift on warmup' has been a 'feature' of my Omni VI since
I bought it new from Ten-Tec years ago.

It appears on the 'To Do' list of fixes I include with the radio whenever it
goes in for service.

After four or five trips out to TT and back for that radio, TT has yet to
fix it.

I've given up and just live with it.

All of a sudden My Omni VI(+1) began acting up.

When turned on from a cold start, the PBT is way off, I must
turn it about 30 degrees to the Counter CLockwise in ALL MODES.
After 5 minutes or so it JUMPS to the "normal" setting
(rather it is off again and I must re center the control to
hear as I normally would). It doesn't drift, it SUDDENLY
reverts to its proper state.

If, for example, you were copying a cw station it would
disappear and you would have to re-center the station with
the control. It works fine until turned off and allowed to get cold.

Has anyone seen this one? I searched and didn't find any in
the archives.

Since it is in all modes, it should narrow it down some.

Thought I would check before I open it up.

Thanks, MArk
