One really nice thing about the tiny electret microphone is that the
diaphragm is so small it remains rigid over the whole audio spectrum and
can be very light weight so it makes an almost perfectly flat microphone
without doing anything complicated. The factory calibrated acoustician's
microphones are small electrets too.
