My first thought also would be a switching power supply, but just to make
sure it's not something internal to the Orion, I would disconnect all
antennas from the radio and see how the effects the noise on the other
receivers in the shack. It's possible that the antenna connection to the
Orion could be radiating the power supply noise, so that has to be taken
into account too.
I'll put my money on the power supply!

My Orion has decided to generate some noise on ten meters. The receiver
has frying hash at about 30 over 9, rendering the receiver useless.
Other receivers in the shack have NO noise on ten unless the Orion is
powered up....yes the noise generated by the Orion can be heard in other
receivers. Orion is dead quiet on 12 and below. Anyone else ever
experience this and found a cure before I trouble the good folks at
TenTec with this one? thanks. 73 bob de w9ge

Bob,
Why do you think it is the Orion? Could it be the power supply?
Something else in the shack? Does transmit work normally?
