Word from Freescale employees here at HQ in Austin, is that this may
facilitate a merger with Philips of Holland, with complementary lines of
semiconductors.
It makes available more capital, the lifeblood of any firm spun off from its
parent company, as Freescale was. Freescale still makes most of the semi
parts for Motorola radios, and they are the major player in automotive
electronics semis. That is a way bigger market than the Orion parts. It is
likely to boost Freescale stock value nicely. The people buying in seem to
be financial types rather than a technical company. Yeah, Aaron, probably
should have bought some Freescale stock!
