Gary, I can only speak to the issue of installing the roofing filter.  It was 
a piece of cake in my Omni VI Plus. And it is also a nice addition to the  
radio (although I rarely use it). I haven't really lookied to see if my rig  
has 
SMD parts, but I doubt it. At any rate, I think for CW, this is by far the
