After some testing, I have the TT282 filter working.
My gut feel told me that changing the capacitors was not going to fix the
filter but I did it anyhow as that was the easiest thing to do. There was
still very little CW output to be heard.
As usual, my gut never lies.
After about an hour of bypassing crystals, I found that one crystal appeared
to be the root of my problems. I removed the crystal and its associated
capacitor, put the original capacitors back on the board and I now have a
working 5 pole 282 filter. There is very little difference in the apparent
loudness of a CW tone between the 500hz and 250hz filters but the background
noise is definitely different.
Again, thanks to everyone that responded. My Corsair II's are happy now.
