John, the plans for the MFJ 259 are easy to find on the MFJ site, as a line drawing of the coil sets. There are only two coils. Count the turns in the drawing. You do not need the adapter from RCA to UHF plug. Simply get some plexiglas rod to fit the back end of a PL 259, and wind the coil on that. Hold the coil secure with shrink tubing. I did this for the club MFJ 259, and borrowed a MFJ made set and compared them and got same range. Remember though, that dipping with the MFJ 259 or higher models is done at a nominal 50 ohm port, and thus at low impedance you have a low Q circuit and shallow dip. -Stuart K5KVH |
