The RIT encoder on my Orion I has failed and the factory is sending me a new
one. The front panel has to be "completely disassembled" to install the new
encoder. The meaning of this may be clear when I open up the Orion, but I
would appreciate general or specific guidance from anyone who has done this
before starting. Is the procedure documented somewhere? If you know of any
be carefuls and make sure you don't do somethings I would appreciate those
as well.

one of the boards on the front panel has 3 posts with small white
insulating washers. note where they came from, also the 2 wire flat cables (
like a
computer hard drive cable) are not marked. the bottom cable goes to the tuning
knob side and the top goes to the on off switch side. ( or mark them when
dissembling) all the rest of the removable wires and coax's are marked, 17 to
17, 44 to 44 etc. good luck, take your time and you should be ok
