At least when Our computers die as they can do. Unlike a flexradio we have a
radio that will run stand alone with out a computer.

That really isn't the way it would be -- more computer woes, that is, if by
comparison one puts the "woes" of the Orions next to, say, the
day-to-problems of running Windoze. If only my laptop would reboot as fast
as the Orion :-)
There are some issues with the radios -- there are issues with any radio you
choose. Everything is a trade-off. Real problems aside, I've been just
listening mostly (to the list) of late, and while there are things to
grumble about, the continuous grumbling (especially this notion that Ten-Tec
is scr*wed because Doug Smith left, and Doug Smith is the only guy that can
fix this, yada yada) is ridiculous. Even the Doug Smith DSP
code/architecture had it's share of issues -- which isn't to knock Doug.
In many respects, the worse thing about either radio is the grumbling -- not
the radio.
