I'm not sure what board it's on but there is a circuit composed of two
diodes which generate the ALC voltage. They are physically near two other
diodes which generate the SWR reading. In total there are five diodes in
fairly close proximity on the board as I recall.. A lightning discharge can
zap these or some of them.
If it were my rig, I'd just replace all five of them (that's what Ten-Tec
would do first, I think).

Subject: [TenTec] Omni A ALC Problem
Hi All,
Well I got my Omni A on the air tonight and It seems ok except the ALC
doesn't work properly. If I turn the ALC down all the way and bring up the
drive the AlC light never comes on and I can trip the current protection
in
the 262m power supply (>18A) ~100w on 40 meters
Where should I look first? Any Ideas?
Tnx de Bill K2rig
