Do any of you know whether when running SSB-AM the carrier power has to be the same as it was for DSB-AM in order for a regular AM detector to demodulate the signal properly? Or when removing one sideband, and keeping the remaining sideband at it's original power level, can the carrier power be lowered and still get good demodulation without a syncronous BFO at the receiver? Stated another way; If you removed one sideband and doubled the power of the remaining sideband, would you have to double the power of the carrier in order for a regular AM detector to demodulate the signal properly?
