A 570 compared to an Omni 6+? A definite apples/oranges comparison. And
yes,
I've had both, so I think I'm qualified to judge. I just love these people
who knock a radio they've never owned or operated. I you like phase noise,
agc pumping when a signal gets close, the 570 is great. If you want a
radio
with a real receiver, with or without extra filters, I think the Omni 6
Plus
is what you want. Don't forget to invite your 570 friend over so he can
learn what a decent receiver sounds like.

Subject: [TenTec] Omni 6+ on it's way
I finally bit the bullet and bought an Omni 6+ , a radio I've long
coveted,
from a list member. I've had one friend tell me I should get rid of it
(it's
not even here yet) and buy a TS 570 which he swears is the most
dependable
radio ever. He says I'll just be sending the Omni 6 back to Tennessee all
the time. Another guy told me he has a 6+ but likes his K2/100 better. I
have a K2/100 and like it fine but its tiny and I want a full size radio
to
replace my beloved Omni V. At this point I feel a little demoralized.
My questions to the list are: do I use a standard modem cable to
connect
to my computer or do I need a null version? Also...I was thinking of
getting
the roofing filter (600 hz) from Inrad. What is the opinion of those? I'm
primarily a CW guy and have gotten interested in contesting in the last
few
months. Also any tips or suggestions for other things I might do would be
much appreciated. Thanks!

I know I will regret this later, but just don't have much
radio time.
1. Jupiter is near flawless in condition, has 302 remote,
knob kit,
manual, power cord, factory box, no tuner.
2. Original Corsair, very nice. Get better audio reports
than with
the Jupiter. Manual, power cord with breaker. Has two
small
issues that do not affect operation, will explain in
e-mail.
3. 705 desk microphone available (extra $) with either
radio.
4. TT hand microphone, sounds OK, just a pain to use.
Hoping to get $280 for the Corsair. Not sure of
Jupiter price. May
consider an OMNI V or later in trade.
