I think it's generally acknowledged that the finals in the OMNI VIs
will withstand high SWRs without falling back on output.
I'm wondering if the same can be said for the ORION II's? I can use a Carolina Windom 80 on most HF bands with SWR under 2 1/2:1 now, so the tuners on the few rigs in my shack that have built-in tuners are not brought into play very much. I use the Jupiter and OMNI VI without tuners. Can one get away with say up to 3:1 SWR with the ORION II without having to bother with the built-in tuner option (or an external tuner)? 73, John, W3ULS |
