Hi I am sure you checked this, but did you check the impedance of your headphones against the impedance TenTec recommends? I do not own a orion, just a jupiter but have never had this problem. Another (ughh) possible cause could be a bad pin diode in the 'monitor' circuit or receiver front end. If so, back to TT it goes, they will fix it.
