I find that speech processors do indeed increase the average SSB PEP output.
That is what they are intended to accomplish. Some are better performers
than others. However, what they degrade from audio quality is another topic
for discussion. Some have artifacts found to be less desirable than others
but in the final analysis, the quality is compromised, but the end result of
increased talk power is realized.
