And the major loop problems can be easily with some de-soldering, cleaning
of the leads and pads, and re-soldering.
It seems that the components aged on the shelf and thus the leads oxidized
and/or the bare copper boards were inadequately cleaned before soldering.
This leads to problems in future years.
Cleaning and re-soldering fixes it permanently.

Following along with this thread, I would like to add that my experience
with the
TT705 mic has also been excellent.. The combination of the 705mic and my
Paragon, have
always resulted in reports of "excellent" audio.., and most often as
Vic,WA4THR had
stated, these reports were unsolicited...
Enjoy your Paragon, its an awesome radio.. just be aware of the typical
PLL problems
on the major loop board...

I have a Shure 444 that I used on my old Triton, but an Argonne AR-57
dual-element crystal mic always got better reports. On my Paragon I use a
TT-705 and get unsolicited compliments on the transmit audio.
