Been working on a Heathkit HW-16 since a discussion here a while back about chirp and drift and stuff and how new things are improved over old. Anyhow, after replacing some filter caps and things, the HW-16 lost its chirp and sounds real good on frequency, but as I monitor it here (using the ORION II) it generates key clicks up and down the band. Looks like they are very broad banded. So who knows the circuit improvement for this type of radio to delay the grid block keying line and perhaps filter the output of the transmitter to clean that up? You know, go from a cube wave to a sine wave start and stop. Ron KA7U |
