Dave,
I would suggest you only need at PTO rebuild kit. I just did a rebuild on a
Triton IV and it was not difficult. But you indicated that you are not
comfortable doing the work. If you send it back to Ten-Tec, they will
replace it with a rebuild unit or rebuilt it. They will also give your rig
a thorough once bench test and alignment. I think it is about $75 plus any
parts. I would call Ten-Tec service and discuss it with them. I think you
will them be very happy with your purchase.
73 and happy New Year,
John

I bought this abt 3 yrs ago on the Bay of E . It has what I believe is a
stuck PTO. I am not sure whether it is because of lack of time , or
uneasiness at attempting what I have heard is a tricky repair job. If you
know what you are doing , it may be a piece of cake. My hands are shaky and
the eyes are not all that good. Cosmetically , the front panel is beautiful
, with sharp and clear legends . The cabinet is excellent except a bad
ruboff of the vinyl covering of the top rear , about the size of a dime ,
from something sitting on top of the radio. I have been reluctant to fire
up the radio since I have no idea where the frequency is with the stuck PTO.
I believe that a xtal cal is installed as there is a small push button on
the rear panel .
Someone please buy yourself a belated Christmas ( or Hanakah , or Kwaanza )
present , if you did not receive what you feel that you rightfully deserved
over the Holiday.
$ 130 plus 1/2 the shipping.
