Steve,
I work with some very complex software developed applications for the
Department of Defense, and some of the same principles apply here with the
TEN TEC software development and testing.
Mainly, is that when software engineers make upgrades or introduce newly
compiled object files as part of the overall operational program, there has
to be extensive "Regression Testing" of the software to ensure that the
upgrades or changes have not affected an existing features that were
operating normally prior to the introduction of new code elements.
Many times, without good regression testing, of the latest release, Beta or
otherwise, then problems can surface in other areas that may have been
non-issues previous.
So, the overall moral to the story, is that complex software operational
programs with several modules, have to be extensively regression tested, at
the end of the release process. This takes a little time.
Thanks,
Jim
