Reseat the connector from the rotary encoder. This is connector 98 on the logic board.While you are in there, carefully unplug each connector and the re-connect same. A lot of these carry very low level signals and any oxidation will cause signal interruption. As to using contact cleaner, I am always very careful of what and how much and where I use it.
