The battery dies, the memory locations and data contained there-in is lost and the unit returns to factory ROM settings as though a master reset has been done.I expect that this is the case with a Ten-Tec rig. I have heard of a rig that did not have the essential operating code in a nonvolatile ROM and became completely inoperative after the memory battery was replaced.
