Vince,

I've had a similar problem, The headphone speaker element was the issue with mine, it was picking up the RF like an antenna, try some ferrit bead on the speaker line, I ultimately decided to change the headphones and that solved the problem. There could be a feedback happening in the audio amplifier which is why it doesn't happen on the kenwood.

My antenna is a vertical, somwhate close to the radio (30 feet) , my radio is on the 2nd floor.

Have to take real care in this situation, a really good ground system is required in my situation, Then I use the double sheilded LMR400 to insure all the signal goes to the antenna, then I use line isolators at the ground rod next to the antenna antenna, at the ground rod next to the house, and then one after the amplifier. It may be over kill, but it pretty much assures all the signal is at the antenna.

Best wishes,
Rich

Hi,

I hear Rf in my headphones on 20 meters only. I'm running an Orion into
an ALS 600 solid state amplifier. The antenna is a Gap Titan DX located
about 40 ft. from the shack. I don't recall this problem with my TS-570.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
