<<<I tend to agree that the release of the Orion II should produce some
"spin
off" advantages for the Orion. (Let me make my point clear, there is no
such thing as the Orion I. There is the Orion and the soon to be released
Orion II. )>>>
I think folks write "Orion I" for precision, so there is no mistaking about
it, that they mean the first and current Orion. So what--if there are
eventually Orions 1 through 4 or more, the term "Orion" will probably become
generic for the whole series. To avoid vagueness, the de facto precedent is
being set to number them including the first one so there is no confusion.
If I am talking about the first Corsair, I never say "Corsair." I always
say "Corsair 1." I don't care if the anal and the purists want to correct
me. Beyond the small realm of ten tec fanatics, "Corsair" can mean any
Corsair because most people don't know the numbering rule or convention used
by the Corsair club. So I am specific. Same with Orion. Orion is now
Orion 1. Accept it. Let us now argue about whether it should be Roman or
Arabic numerals.
