Actually, I've been blessed with a wonderful wife who supports my hamming (it
keeps me at home and happy), who bought me the new Ten Tec Triton Digital
(544)--an incredible rig--with remote VFO, 160 M converter, etc. for our tenth
wedding anniversary many years ago, and has bought, as presents, every rig I've
ever owned, including the recent purchase of a new Ten Tec Centurion and a High
Sierra HS-1800 screwdriver for the car, not to mention additional batteries in
the RV for hamming! These are a lot of recent purchases, so to follow up with a
$700 tuner is a bit much. But, I plan to have this be my only antenna (other
than a couple of old verticals) and forego the $10,000 I would otherwise need
for the tower/cement/rotator/beam system I'd been dreaming of! Sounds like a
good deal to me! :-)

Greg, your problem is not unique. I suppose most of us have it.

Here's what I did when I wanted to buy my Orion:

Take her out for candlelight dinner in a romantic restaurant (with no TVs
playing), buy a bottle of good wine (and be sure she drinks most of it).
Tell here she is even more lovely than she was the day you married, and then
as you're getting ready to leave, "honey, theirs is one little thing I'd
like to ask you..." :-)

Gud Luk.

Reality. Well my wife said yes. I ordered the Orion. When it came, she
couldn't remember ever agreeing to it. Perhaps you should use chocolates
instead of wine!

Scott,

Thank you for your recommendation of the BT1500A. I had just come to that
same conclusion after reviewing the BT1500A features and reviews last night.
It is obviously a superior tuner for my needs because I want to work all
bands 160-10, something the Johnson will not do. Now I need to sell my wife
on why I really need a $700 tuner to make my antenna system play. :-)
