Remember digital modes and RTTY are 100 per cent duty cycle with the carrier on all the time; just switching frequency or phase, as in PSK 31 et al. Thus, most any transmitter is only going to be able to handle 50 per cent or less of its intermittent modes, like CW, or else it will heat up or risk overload.
