Chuck:
I have a Paragon II along with an original manual. The only mod I am aware
of is one that cuts a jumper to allow transmit on all frequencies above 1.8
MHz. This allows access to the 60M band. It is marked HAM on the processor
board. There may be one other which changes the AGC hang/attack time. I'll
have to look.
As to the VOX not working, be sure the Anti-VOX control is not turned up all
the way. Start with all 3 controls, as viewed from the rear of the radio,
turned fully counter clockwise. Advance the gain about 1/2 way. The
PTT/VOX switch on the front panel should be in the out or released position.
Along with the Paragon II, I have an original Paragon, an Omni VI+. The
Paragon II is simply a great radio. I prefer the receive audio over the
Omni VI+. The only added item is an external Timewave DSP 9+ for heterodyne
and noise improvement/processing and an external keyer being a MFJ-406.
I suggest you order a manual from Tentec. You'll learn lots about what the
radio will do.
