The Omni V has no protocols at all. It is just send data, receive data, and
ground. And yes, it is 1200 baud, 8 bit, no parity. The commands are very
simple.

Subject: [TenTec] CAT interfacing to Omni V
I'm having problems interfacing a PC to my Omni V for CAT. The protocols -
though the manual doesn't say it - are 1200 8 N 1. There seems to be some
doubt about the connections between the PC COM1 DB9 connector and the DB25
connector on the Omni V. Currently they are:
DB9 DB25
pin 2 to pin 3
pin 3 to pin 2
pin 5 to pin 7 (earth)
Which is not what the manual says! The 2-2 and 2-3 connections don't work at
all ie no codes going out from the PC and no acks back.
There is no handshaking. I've seen a diagram (in the Argonaut II manual, of
all places) with DSR connected to DTR on the DB9 which I've tried, but with
no success.
So....
1) are the DB9 to DB25 connections correct?
2) do I need handshaking (the CTS pin is currently connected to the PTT
line)?
3) I presume it's RS232 levels, or is it TTL (as it is on the Argonaut II)?
4) do I need to set the unque TX/RX identifier? If so, how? There's nothing
in
the manual.
Any help would be much appreciated.
