Thanks very much! I've learned that I have a "series B" version of the Omni
D, and understand the difficulties of enabling WARC. I was confused in part
because the manual I received originally with the rig wasn't the same
version (OMNI-D series something else...) I also found a few related
postings on the archive once I got a decent search query made up.
(P.S., don't look for my strong signal on 9 MHz, I promise not to try
that!!!!!!)

The Omni D series B (which it sounds like is what you have), can only be
modified for 24 mhz and 10 mhz. 18 mhz is not possible. There was a kit
containing several coils that did the mod for these two bands. This kit
sold for $25 back in the 80's. I recently saw one for sale on this
reflector just a few weeks ago. This kit adds 10 mhz transmit and 24 mhz
transmit and receive to the AUX position of the band switch. I do not
recommend doing this mod without the kit because of the complexity in
making
the specialized coils and transformers.
If you have an Omni C, then all you need is crystals. The Omni C has 10,
18, and 24 mhz right on the band switch.

None of the black Omni rigs (A, D, B or C) will operate 18 MHz
satisfactorily because on that band the rig transmits spurs -- one or more
of them is often a watt or higher in power.
