The 961 was designed for the OMNI VI, I believe. The 961 was, I believe, 
replaced by the 962 when a power transformer became unavailable. Some 
people prefer the 961 (myself included).

Older hands may have better info, but I believe you absolutely can usde the 
961 with a VI+.
