The DSP noise reduction in Option 1 or 3 is well worth having! I had an
option 3 and bought a plain VI as a backup. Same fine receiver, but I was
lost without the DSP noise reduction. Bought the Option 1 kit from TenTec
and now I am a happy camper with my backup. The second narrow slot in the
9mhz IF would be handy if you were using the radio for both voice and CW. If
you primarily use only 1, the a VI with option 1 is fine. Just my 1.5 cents
(adjusted for inflation). ----- Original Message ----- From: "David" <dns@cablespeed.com> To: <tentec@contesting.com> Sent: Monday, December 06, 2004 12:30 AM Subject: [TenTec] omni purchase I'm thinking of buying an omni 6, rather than a 6+. I've read the e-ham reviews and it appears there really isn't that much to gain by getting one with the updates (ver.1 etc) and that the main thing about the 6+ is the extra filter slot in the 9Mhz IF. I would appreciate any advice regarding this.
