[TenTec] QSK-5

Is anyone with a TenTec rig using the QSK-5 adapter with a non-QSK amp?
If I get this gizmo, does it really allow...say an SB220 or TL922 to operate in 
QSK mode?
So I guess the loud T/R relay in the amp just stays closed, and the QSK gizmo 
has the antenna connections on the back...doing the switching instead of the 
amp??
I am just wondering if it would do the trick, or ...keep saving for a QSK amp??
