Sure. Most all rigs used crystal filters. Manufactures made lots of money
on them. Then their engineers designed rigs that didn't need the
expensive filters so the marketing departments made sure the price was
still high enough to make a decent profit. Later, the manufactures got a
great idea. They designed rigs that could accommodate the expensive
filters and sell them as options for rigs that don't need them. This made
the price higher than ever and everyone lived happily ever after.
