Not flopped at all Ron,
The Scout had one microprocessor and was hard pressed to handle keying
chores and frequency updates simultaneously. Time and design moves on. The
Scout's replacement, the ARGO V covers all of ten meters and has FM as well
as CW, and voice modes.
The growth of QRP, and modern micro tech and DSP, made possible the Argonaut
V, a much greater radio for about the same money corrected for inflation.
More modes, all HF bands, super filtering and notching, built in keyer, the
Argonaut is a real beauty of a rig, and rock solid with TCXO option if you
want even more solid operation.
The Scout retains a good resale value and can be had used from Ten Tec and
individuals at about $350 depending on number of band modules.
I kept my Scout, but love my ARGO.
73,
Stuart
