[TenTec] Triton 540 sidetone mod?

Is there a way to tone down the bassy thumping of the sidetone every time I key 
up with the Triton IV? Its not very pleasent and fatigue can set in real quick 
with headphones. I did a similar mod on a Century 21 that eliminated the 
thumping, but that was a long time ago and a different radio. Any other 
performace mods that can be done to the 540? Thanks for the read.....Gil
