Just joined this list last week. Glad to see so much activity on it.
I have had an OMNI-D for about 10 years now. I've really enjoyed using it.
There is one thing about it's operation that has bothered me though:
When you are adjusting the drive control so that the ALC kicks in/out the
OMNI will oscillate, making a "groan" kind of sound in the sidetone. From a
design point of view I've always wondered if it was lacking hysteresis in
the ALC. It does this one some bands more than others.
Is this normal operation? If not, has anybody else had a similiar problem?
I've just worked around it all these years. However I'm about to open it up
to install the WARC kit and thought that it would be a good time to look
into that ALC circuit too.
