Somewhere in the archives in last 30 days or so, you will find a lot of
discussion .. along with the usual bickering, wailing, and finally
some answers :-) ... on using the HC-5/4 with the Orion, along with
recommended settings for both TX EQ adjustment and speech
processing.
Orion's speech processing up to about level 3, adds a lot of punch
without adding that unmistakable "processed sound".
I use either a Studio One on the mic input or (most of the time) an
RE-20/VX-2000 fed into the AUX input. Both work fine, and sound
good. TX EQ is in the +12-14 dB range for either mic, a little higher
for the Studio One.
I don't find the monitor to sound muffled. YMMV on that. You might
try a master reset just to see if that changes what you're hearing. It
could also be telling you that you need to add a little on the + side to
TX EQ ..
