When I tested my Orion with Elecraft's current XG-1 gizmo, I got an s reading 
of 9 when it was on the 50 mv setting without the preamp.  Ok, sure, it's not a 
definitive measurement, but Elecraft says they're pretty close, even for a wide 
number of kits and builders.  It met my expectations -- both my K2 and the 
Orion read S9 for 50mv!
