John, you said it first. I don't know about the contesters in
the states, but over here they are the best informed of most of
the hams.
The ones that follow the crowds, follow the fellow contesters
"in-the-know", not the masses.
Perry's county must be on the back side of the moon ;-)

Just how many? The majority of contesters I know are not
technically
minded
nor can understand all the "selling points" promoted in the ads,
to accept
them
or see the hype involved. They DO see cosmetics and in general

understands the technical aspects of what he's using, and he is
