Hello, just one simple comment about this thematic: I'm used to use High Cut / Low Cut on my TS850S - and comparing this with PBT I've seen on other transceivers (with fixed BW), I really wouldn't like to miss it on the next receiver in my shack. It gives you a really EASY way to optimize your reception, if a disturbing signal is on one side of the wanted signal - a very common situation especially in SSB DXing, but of course in CW also, as you all know. If a 2nd signal from the upper side disturbs - no problem, take the high cut a bit down.. I do not know yet how the detailed realization has been done in the ORION (not ordered yet), but on the TS850, Low/High Cut is really intuitive in its use, as it inverts if you switch from LSB to USB: If noise sounds high-frequent, always use highcut, if it sounds low-frequent, use low-cut.. no need to think about what doing, no need to switch between PBT and BW, etc - and intuitivity of operation is what I consider really important during a contest. I really can NOT imagine that things would get easier if I'd have to use PBT + BW instead of High Cut / Low Cut.. 73, Ulrich dh0ghu _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/tentec |
