Update on measured current drain:
In the upcoming ORION test in Funkamateur magazine, the testers
found the current drain to be band-dependent. They measured
between 18 and 23.8 amps (at 13.8v) for full power out.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about that after I sent in
the
comment. The ORION manual says without 25 A the transmitter may
put out
less than 100 watts. I guess that means an Astron linear :-)
Anyhow, I may be old fashioned, but I would be just a little more
comfortable using a linear with the Orion.
