Perhaps you should simply discuss the issue with Ten-Tec?  If something 
turns out to be possible, simply grousing around here won't make it 
happen ....

At any rate, as some others have suggested, it does seem that there are 
numerous straightforward ways to skin this particular cat, aside from 
throwing out the baby with the bath water.
