It's a LM380N as I recall. That heat sink is usually a clip-on/slip over sink on the IC. I put in an IC socket in several I owned. There are NOTICEABLE differences from one specimen of chip to another so buy a 1/2 dozen and switch them in and out for the best audio performance to your ears. Made a BIG difference in audio quality mine after I found the "right" specimen.
