Yes I've tried different cables and since my email reloaded the firmware and
still not joy.

This may seem a bit obvious BUT have you checked the condition of the
connectors and/or cables you are using? I had similar situations and,
fortunately for me, the problem was always traced to a connection problem of
one sort or another. INCLUDING different behaviour on different
frequencies. Prior to that incident I had never thought of the possibility
of a frequency dependent short circuit!!! WEIRD!
