This is the second peice of test equipment any ham should have - the first
being a good DVM (VOM for us old guys!) I have the early MFJ-259 but it
still works well. The later units (259B) give you the +/-j component which
is really handy. There are a few crevats - as with any piece of test gear -
know the limitations. Every piece of equipment will lie to you - just know
how it does it!!! (OK - sometimes I just forget how to interpret what its
saying also but I've dealt with some rather high end gear and they aint
created equal.)

As for which brand is better - MFJ will probably serve your needs quite
well but it is at the low end of the spectrum. Get one! You will never
regret the purchase.
